Dear Iowa Conservatives and blue collar workers,
When it comes to the Tyson factory, it is not temporarily closed; it is gone permanently. Those jobs will never come back. And as we look forward, the people of the Quad Cities, as well as the people of Iowa, must make a different decision about the future they want. A new Democratic coalition has formed here, stretching from democratic socialists and social democrats to progressives, centrists, and everyday liberals. The coalition is big in Iowa, and despite their differences, they are working together. They are supporting each other, and they are fighting for you.
So let me tell you what the world or at least the state could look like if Democrats win in Iowa. There will be more manufacturing. There will be more welding jobs. There will be more small businesses. Democrats understand how economics work. They understand that in order to get Iowa’s economy back to where it needs to be, we must increase the velocity of the money supply. That is the only way to increase GDP, and it is also the only way to increase Iowa’s tax revenue.
To increase the velocity of money means how many times money changes hands we must look at what people need to sustain themselves and what communities need to thrive. We need powerful safety nets. We need opportunities for people to build families, meet each other, open businesses, and create stable lives. The Republicans do not care about Iowans, and it is sad to say that every time I see rural Iowa turn out to vote for the Republican Party, their farmlands are bought out and either turned into endless suburbs or taken over by large corporate farms.
These corporate farms do not care about the soil, the environment, or the destruction they leave behind. They grow tortured animal meat and ignore the humane practices that local dairy farmers and pig ranchers have used for generations. These local farmers understand the soil. They understand crop rotation. They understand fertilization. They understand what pesticides to use and how to protect their land. Corporate farms do not. And it is heartbreaking to see rural farmers and rural communities being taken over by new data center constructions, pumping out harmful noise, Wi‑Fi signals, radiation, and pollution that poisons the water supply and creates extraordinarily high electric bills.
Every time we see a Republican in office, we see jobs move out. The regulations they cut are not the regulations that help businesses grow or create new manufacturing. They cut the regulations that protect workers, protect families, and keep wages high. They cut the regulations that make companies stay in Iowa. They remove the deals that say, “You must manufacture here if you want to sell here.”
Now, I understand that the Democratic Party is not perfect. As we in Nefesh have said many times, we are not supportive of every single Democrat and our other articles make that clear. However, what I can tell you is that this new coalition has a plan for Iowa. Their plan is to give farms back to average farmers and to work with rural communities to build a coalition of people who can keep their land, keep local production strong, and keep Iowa’s agricultural identity alive.
The Democratic Party understands the issues farmers face when it comes to tractors and repairs. They understand the right‑to‑repair movement and the dictation of companies like John Deere. They are looking forward to making real deals that allow farmers to repair their own equipment without being financially crushed. They understand that important fertilizers need to reach Iowans, and that new markets need to open for soybeans, corn, pork, dairy you name it.
They also understand that large corporations like Monsanto need to be stopped and held accountable. They understand that there may need to be a moratorium on data centers, and that we must rein in how these centers operate. We need serious regulation on what they are doing to our local communities.
When it comes to manufacturing, Democrats understand that Iowa needs more plants, more places where people can work, and more companies willing to invest in the state. They are looking to build new businesses and create an entirely new economic boom making Iowa once again the industrial capital it used to be. They want to put money into people’s pockets. They want to see powerful unions come back not unions that simply take dues, but unions that actually fight for workers, keep jobs here, secure strong contracts, and build higher wealth for families.
The Democrats also understand the loneliness epidemic happening in Iowa. They see the young men struggling, and they know it is a serious issue. They want to create a new boom for these young men so they can build their lives, find partners, and start the families they dream of. But we must understand something: the GOP is going to slam you with hate and propaganda. They will try to blame trans people. They will try to blame immigrants. But the truth is simple it is not trans people preventing you from having kids, and it is not immigrants stealing your jobs.
The real issue is policy. Policies that keep corporations fat and happy without competition. Policies that protect billionaires from any consequences. Policies that prevent developmental growth and industrial expansion in Iowa. Policies that keep wages low and opportunities scarce.
I am asking you to consider voting for the Democratic Party this November. And I say this knowing full well that the Democratic Party is not just the liberal party anymore. The tent has expanded. It now includes libertarians, conservatives, rural communities, and working families. The coalition Iowa has built is big enough to represent the rural culture of Iowa and it is time for Iowa to become one powerful state again.
